THE Christmas Photo

And I mean that literally…I hooked up the camera to download all the festivities and you are looking at the one and only photo that was taken during Christmas 2009. None of the kids opening their presents. None of them wearing their superhero capes and chasing one another. None of all the precious family time where we spent just chatting and loving the fact that we’ve been blessed with such wonderful relations. Zip. Except for this one. So I’ll take this opportunity to share with you my fabulous father-in-law who introduces me as his daughter and my husband as his son — which really confuses yankee transplants but makes me feel like a million dollars.

The lovely and effortlessly thin blonde is my sister-in-law, Pam, who is married to Jason’s very favorite brother, Josh (o.k. so he’s his only brother…but even if there were 10 others, he would easily be the favorite). Incidentally, there’s evidence of Pam’s awesomeness around her neck. She was presented with a genuine, hand-knit-by-Jodi scarf which she immediately put on and insisted on wearing the rest of the night. And she never once examined it for mistakes and completely pretended not to notice that the cast-on end is just a smidge wider than the cast-off end. This alone makes her worth her weight in gold — actually, she’s so tiny, we should probably double that.

And of course, there’s me on the right. It’s always fun to realize I looked exactly as tired as I felt. And mother was right, I should always wear lipstick. Oh, well…it was still a wonderful Christmas. I’ll just have to work extra hard to remember it since my photojournalistic skills are obviously non-existent. Hope your holiday was fabulous and I wish you a very healthy and happy New Year!

You are too cute! You do not need lipstick. You have a wonderful family. At least you have the memories. 🙂

LOL! Sounds like my christmas…. although the new camera did work this year. The memories will be enough. If not, you could have the kids draw pictures. 🙂 Those would be funny. The entire swaree sounds fun w/ capes and all. I would love to see photos but maybe you could reinact? If it is any consolation, my mother kept no evidence that I ever existed and I am still here so even if 2010 has no photos, I think the boys will still be happy, well adusted kids. That is at least if they stay away from my group. 🙂 Happy NYE. See you soon, T.

You always look fabulous, my dear! I think you may be the most photogenic person I know…even if you forget to take pictures, at least you look great in them! Sounds like a wonderful Christmas! I actually did take pictures, but have yet to post any yet (other than baby bump Lola)…so, pictures are obviously overrated! Hugs and Kisses and a very Happy New Year!

I’m thinking that you don’t only miss your nanny and paid companion, but also your personal photographer?!! 🙂
